Born in Coos Bay, Oregon. Lived in Springfield, Oregon.
What’s your background?
I am a wood worker and finish carpenter, ceramics artist, glass blower. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Product Design from the University of Oregon
How do you work?
I create models and drawings and think through a design before building my first prototype. I work best when I dive all in and start creating with my hands. I then use intuition and problem solving to get through the process to an end product.
What art do you most identify with?
I enjoy music because it is the best way to convey emotion and it is a moving kind of art.
What work do you most enjoy doing?
Taking a piece of wood and turning it into something permanent, beautiful, useful, and purposeful
What themes do you pursue?
Forms that refer to themselves where proportions make sense in scale to the other elements of an object
How has your practice changed over time?
I am now more playful with ideas. I think of something to create and then consider how many different ways you could make the same thing, or how many solutions can be found for the same problem?
Professionally what’s your goal?
For my designs to be known by many people who truly enjoy using the art I create. To use myhands, heart, and mind to build a future for myself and others
What three artists/designers have given you the most inspiration?
Frank Gehry, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Norm Abram
What wouldn’t you do without?
I could not do without my friends in my life.
